Tui Na - Chinese medical massage
What is Tui Na?
Tui Na medical massage is a strong, vigorous, whole body massage, performed through clothing, that uses the same acupuncture points and meridians that an acupuncturist would needle.
It includes stretches and manipulations, and can be used in isolation of an injured area, or in totality as a relaxing maintanance of health, posture, circulation and vitality.
Tui Na is the origin of all modern bodywork techniques such as Osteopathy, Physiotherapy and Chiropractic.I should point out it does NOT include hi-velocity manipulations as seen in chiropractic, which has been shown to possibly have adverse effects on health. Tui Na does include some manipulations, but these are performed safely and progressively..
Tui Na, which translates as 'grasp and pull', has been used in China for thousands of years to treat acute and chronic musculoskeletal issues, as well as many non-musculoskeletal conditions. It is ideal for sports injuries, restricted range of movement issues, or just to feel good.
Tui Na is a very deep tissue massage, that varies from fast, vigorous rolling techniques to slow myofascial release techniques, to deep pressure on required acupuncture points. It can be used as a stand alone treatment, or used in conjunction with Acupuncture, Cupping therapy etc.
